Parking at Phuket Piers: Where to Leave Your Car

Why You Might Need Parking

Most island tours include hotel pickup, so you do not need to drive to the pier yourself. However, if you have rented a car or motorbike in Phuket, you may prefer to drive directly. Here is the parking situation at each major pier.

Rassada Pier Parking

Rassada Pier has a dedicated parking area near the terminal building.

• Car parking: Available. The lot can fill up during peak morning hours when multiple ferries and tours depart simultaneously.
• Motorbike parking: Usually easier to find space.
• Cost: Approximately 100 to 200 THB per day for cars, 20 to 50 THB for motorbikes. Some lots are free but unattended.
• Security: The main lot near the terminal has some oversight from pier staff, but it is not a secured or guarded lot. Do not leave valuables visible in your car.

Tips for Rassada Pier

• Arrive early (at least 30 minutes before your boat) to secure a spot.
• If the main lot is full, there are informal parking areas along the access road.
• Do not block other vehicles or pier access roads.

Chalong Pier Parking

Chalong Pier has more relaxed parking compared to Rassada.

• Car parking: Available in the lot near the pier entrance and along the road.
• Motorbike parking: Plentiful.
• Cost: Generally free or very low cost (50 to 100 THB for attended lots).
• Security: Similar to Rassada. Not formally guarded.

Royal Phuket Marina Parking

Royal Phuket Marina is a more upscale departure point used by some premium tours and private charters.

• Parking: Well-organized parking lot within the marina complex.
• Cost: Free for tour guests in most cases.
• Security: Better security than public piers. The marina has controlled access.

Ao Po Grand Marina Parking

Located on the northeast coast of Phuket, Ao Po Grand Marina is used for some tours to Phang Nga Bay and the Hong Islands.

• Parking: Available within the marina compound.
• Cost: Usually free for tour customers.
• Security: Gated marina with security.

General Parking Tips

• Most people do not need to park at piers. Tour packages include hotel pickup. Only drive yourself if you specifically prefer it.
• Do not leave valuables in your vehicle. Take your important items with you in a dry bag.
• Lock your vehicle thoroughly. Close all windows, lock all doors.
• Take a photo of where you parked. Pier areas can look confusing after a long day at sea.
• Check rental agreement. Some car rental companies restrict where you can park. Confirm there are no restrictions on leaving the car at a pier all day.
• Motorbikes: Use a quality lock in addition to the steering lock. Motorbike theft at busy piers is a risk.

Alternative: Drop-Off Only

If you are traveling with companions, one option is to have someone drop you off at the pier and pick you up when you return. This avoids parking entirely. Confirm your return time with your tour operator so your ride knows when to collect you.
