Hotel Pickup for Phuket Tours: How It Works, Times and Areas

Every day tour and private charter we sell includes a return hotel transfer in Phuket. A minibus or car collects you between about 07:30 and 08:45, drives you to the pier or starting point and brings you back after the tour. The exact pickup time is confirmed the evening before and depends on two things: which tour you booked and where your hotel is. On the Phi Phi tour, Kamala and some outer areas cost extra, and the furthest areas need a private car transfer that you add on the booking page.

Phuket is bigger than many visitors expect, and the piers are not in the middle of it. This guide explains how pickup works step by step, groups the island's hotel areas by location, and covers villas, late drivers, drop-off times and what to do if you are staying far out.

How Hotel Pickup Works, Step by Step

1. You give your hotel name and area when you book. Use the exact name, including the branch, because several Phuket hotels have similar names.
2. The pickup time is confirmed the evening before, based on your place in the driver's route. If you have not heard by late evening, contact us rather than waiting until the morning.
3. You wait in the lobby or at the main entrance. The driver comes in and asks for your name or booking reference. At hotels with a driveway, the van usually pulls up at the main entrance.
4. You share the van with other guests from nearby hotels. It makes several stops in your area, then heads to the pier. The drive from the last hotel to the pier usually takes 15 to 45 minutes, depending on the area and traffic.
5. After the tour, the same system runs in reverse. You board the van at the pier and it drops guests at their hotels along the route.

Drivers collect several hotels in one run, so they cannot wait long. Being ready on time keeps the whole van on schedule.

Pickup Times and Starting Points for Our Tours

The further your hotel is from the starting point, the earlier you are collected. To get back to your hotel, add the drive from the pier to the times above. Drop-off usually runs in the reverse order of pickup, so if you were collected first, you may be dropped off last. Weather, the sea and traffic can all shift these times, so keep the evening flexible.

Phuket's Hotel Areas, Grouped by Location

West coast, central: Patong, Karon and Kata

The busiest beach areas, including Kata Noi, and the core of most pickup routes. Patong is separated from Phuket Town by a hill road, which adds a little time on the way to the east coast piers, and its morning traffic can be slow. Kata and Karon are closer to Chalong Pier. Phuket Town and the east side

Phuket Town and the nearby east coast are close to the piers used for Phi Phi and Phang Nga Bay, so pickups here are often among the shorter drives for those trips. See the best tours from Phuket Old Town.

The south: Chalong, Rawai, Nai Harn and Cape Panwa

Northwest: Kamala, Surin, Bang Tao, Laguna and Layan

Quieter beach areas north of Patong. They are further from the piers, so pickups are earlier. On the Phi Phi tour, Kamala has a per person transfer surcharge, and Surin, Bang Tao and Laguna need a private car transfer. See our guide to day trips from Kamala and Surin.

Far north: Nai Thon, Nai Yang, Mai Khao, the airport and Ao Po

The areas furthest from Chalong and from many of the east coast piers, so expect the earliest pickups. On the Phi Phi tour, these areas also need a private car transfer.

Is Pickup Free from My Area?

A return hotel transfer is included on all five day tours and on the private charters. On the Phi Phi, Maya Bay and Khai Island tour, what you pay for it depends on your area:

• Standard zones: the transfer is included in the tour price.
• Kamala: a per person transfer surcharge.
• Surin, Bang Tao, Laguna and the far north: a private car transfer.
• Other outer areas, such as Rawai, Nai Harn and Cape Panwa: check the transfer options shown for your hotel on the booking page.

Both the surcharge and the private car appear as options on the booking page, so you see the full price before you confirm. For the other tours, if you are staying somewhere remote, such as a villa up a hill or a resort in the far north, mention it when you book or contact us first so the transfer can be checked for your address.

Villas, Airbnbs and Hard to Find Addresses

You can usually be collected from a private villa, a holiday rental or a small guesthouse too. The driver just needs more help to find you. When you book, give:

• The exact address, or a map pin or GPS coordinates.
• The name of the property and a nearby landmark.
• A phone number the driver can reach you on in the morning.

Some hillside roads are too steep or narrow for a minibus, and some properties are simply hard to find. In that case you may be asked to wait at the nearest main road, a nearby hotel or a junction. You will be told where when your pickup time is confirmed.

If Your Hotel Is Outside the Usual Area

• Add the transfer option on the booking page where one is offered, such as the private car transfer on the Phi Phi tour.
• Meet at a nearby hotel on the route, if the operator agrees. Ask when your pickup time is confirmed.
• Get yourself to the pier by taxi, ride-hailing app or rental car. Tell us in advance so no van is sent to your hotel, confirm the pier and meeting time first, and allow extra time for traffic, because boats cannot wait for late arrivals. • Consider a private charter if you are a group. Hotel pickup and drop-off are included in the boat price.

Tips for a Smooth Pickup

• Be ready 10 minutes early in the lobby or at the main entrance. Vans sometimes arrive ahead of schedule.
• At a large resort, ask which entrance or lobby the driver will use.
• Keep your phone on the evening before and in the morning, in case the driver needs to reach you.
• Have your booking reference ready to show the driver. Take a screenshot in case you have no signal.
• Eat something before pickup. The Phi Phi tour includes a light breakfast at the pier; for the other tours, have a small breakfast at your hotel just in case.
• Wear your swimsuit under your clothes. There may be nowhere convenient to change at the pier.

• If you change hotels during your stay, tell us as soon as possible so the driver has the right address.
• If the driver seems late, wait a few minutes, then call the number you were given. Traffic in Phuket can be unpredictable in the morning, especially around Patong. Do not leave the lobby or set off on your own.

What time will I be picked up?

Most of our day tours pick up between 07:30 and 08:45, depending on the tour and your area. Charters pick up at around 08:00. The exact time is confirmed the evening before your trip.

My hotel is in Mai Khao or near the airport. Can I still join?

For the Phi Phi tour, yes, with a private car transfer added on the booking page. For the other tours, mention your hotel when you book or contact us first, and expect an early pickup.

What happens if the van is late?

Morning traffic can hold up a van. Wait a few minutes past the confirmed time, then call the number on your booking confirmation. Stay in the lobby so the driver can find you.

Can I get to the pier myself?

Usually yes. Tell us in advance so no van is sent, confirm the pier and meeting time, and arrive early, as the boat cannot wait.

Can I be picked up from a villa or Airbnb?

Usually yes. Give the exact address or a map pin, the property name and a phone number when you book. If the road is hard to reach, you may be asked to meet at the nearest main road or hotel.

Can I be picked up at the airport for a tour?
